Summer Wedding Themes - Inspiration to Help You Pick the Perfect Theme

Having a tough time finding the perfect summer wedding themes? What's the deal - too many options... too few options...do you think everything is lame? Or are you just indecisive and want to be sure what you have in mind just perfect!

I get it.... I got married not too long and that's exactly what my problem was - Yep, each and every one of those things I mentioned above. There were not enough ideas, there were too many ideas, I thought everything was lame, and well, I just could decide!

So where do we start now? How do you find that just right idea with all the summer wedding themes floating around? That one and only wonderful idea that will get you really excited and inspired. The idea that will give you the same "yessss!" feeling that we all get when we've found THE perfect wedding gown!

Easy. Start with deciding what kind of summer wedding are you're having? Really, it's that's simple! Start here and it'll all fall into place!

You see, if you're going for a traditional wedding you've already ruled out themes like a bbq theme, or even a sunflower theme which is suited to a more relaxed and carefree wedding.

Then, look at where you're having it, or want to have it - In a hall, your backyard, the beach....

These ideas don't necessarily rule out anything, but, it certainly is a good starting point for inspiration.

Let's start by figuring out what kind of wedding you want and then go from there? Sound good?

Traditional or "fancier" Summer Wedding Themes

Great summer wedding colors for a traditional wedding in the summer include white, champagne, red, muted pink and even black.

Great flowers for traditional summer weddings include roses, begonias, the lily, and the dahlia. Even these flowers have their own "feeling". The calla lily is classic and simple, the rose romantic and grand, etc.

General traditional or fancier themes include tea party, Tiffany's, and even rustic romantic.

Casual Wedding Themes

Wedding Themes for casual summer weddings include a bbq theme, patio lantern theme, rustic cottage, and again a tea party theme depending on how you do it. With themes like this you can give your guest bbq sauce favors or even tea favors, which are practical and appreciated gifts!

If you're going for a beach theme in the summer, then ideas like flip flops, seashells, and seahorses all make great themes.

Great flowers for summer weddings include the sunflower, the daisy, and wildflower mixtures.

Great summer wedding colors for more relaxed summer weddings include orange, yellow, hot pink, and lavender.

A smorgasbord of color also works really well!

Look at invitations and favors for inspiration

One of the most overlooked solutions to finding summer wedding themes is looking at favors and invites.

If you find a great summer wedding invitation with great colors and you're not just not drawn to anything else, then of course you'd go with that as your theme color. You don't even need to theme it up even more - unless you do so by saying your theme color is pink and white and you only use pink gerber daisies in bouquets.

Alternately, if you just love a particular summer favor you've found your theme! Especially if you picked garden seeds or tea - Helllooooo garden or tea party wedding!

In fact, it's sometime easier doing it this way as opposed to picking a color or theme and trying to find something you like that fits into it.

There are a ton of different themes that would work in the summer, and choosing the right one is all about choosing one that goes with your wedding style - casual, quirky, traditional, classic. And, finding the inspiration is as simple as looking in your backyard or at invites and favors that you just love!

Have fun... and happy planning.
